The names of about 170 associates of Jeffrey Epstein were just made public by a federal judge in New York, but the now-dead pedophile's network is known to have extended far wider, with hundreds more names documented by Business Insider.
The Wednesday unsealing was executed as part of a lawsuit filed by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre against Epstein's sex-trafficking partner, Ghislaine Maxwell. A person having their name revealed in this unsealing doesn't necessarily indicate they committed any wrongdoing.
Many are people who were mentioned in other cases involving Epstein. Some have accused Epstein of sexual abuse in lawsuits and thus had their names revealed because they'd already made their identities public.
Others were Epstein's household staff or people mentioned in passing during legal proceedings or depositions.
Major figures, such as former President Bill Clinton, magician David Copperfield, French hairstylist entrepreneur Frédéric Fekkai, and Prince Andrew, were also named.
Dozens more public and royal figures have been mentioned in two black books kept by Epstein, who recorded more than 1,700 names and hundreds of businesses in these address books.
In 2020, BI compiled a database of all 1,510 names in Epstein's bigger black book, which was unearthed by the FBI in 2009.
The names included Steve Forbes, editor in chief of Forbes magazine, media mogul Rupert Murdoch, billionaire David Koch, and supermodel Naomi Campbell.
While this was an address book Epstein kept in 2004 and not a list of those involved in wrongdoing, it was key to investigators understanding Epstein's crimes, reported Gawker, citing an FBI affidavit. The outlet was the first to publish the black book.
In 2021, BI released another exclusive database of names from a separate black book that Epstein kept in 1997.
At least 221 of these names were not in the other black book and included Melania Trump's best friend, Suzanne Johnson, billionaire John Catsimatidis, and portfolio manager Stanley Shopkorn.
Those interested in analyzing Epstein's travels can also view records of the 2,618 flights made by his fleet of private planes via a database compiled by BI and published in 2021.
The database also documents the names of passengers who flew with Epstein or on his planes, including Clinton, Fekkai, former President Donald Trump, and lawyer Alan Dershowitz.
Epstein was arrested in July 2019 for sex trafficking but was found dead in his jail cell on August 10 that year, with authorities ruling that he hanged himself.
Maxwell was sentenced in June 2022 to 20 years in prison for trafficking girls for sex with Epstein and sexually abusing them herself. She is appealing her conviction.
