Canadian pop star Justin Bieber just bought a new penthouse in the centre of Amsterdam, according to the Dutch celebrity estate agent Leslie de Ruiter.

Bieber will be a neighbor of the Dutch king, Willem-Alexander of Orange, whose palace is literally a one minute walk away from the Canadian star’s new apartment.

According to De Ruiter, Bieber paid about €24,5 million ($27,7 million) for the brand-new 13,200 square foot penthouse, which makes it the most expensive penthouse in the entire country of The Netherlands. The penthouse has three stories and has its own elevator.

There are a lot of reasons for Bieber to have an appartement in Amsterdam. It’s one of the most future-proof cities in the world, it’s super bicycle friendly, and selling marijuana – which Bieber seems to like – in small quantities is allowed throughout the entire country.

Also, real estate could be an interesting investment: housing prices in Amsterdam on average went up 22 percent in the third quarter of this year, compared to a year earlier.

One of the perks of the luxurious apartment is that services are provided by the neighboring 5-star hotel Krasnapolsky. That means Bieber doesn't have to do his own laundry or cooking, and he can let the valet park his car.

However, when Bieber was visiting the Dutch capital earlier this month, he was spotted in a local grocery store, together with the Dutch DJ Martin Garrix. Perhaps Bieber will do his own cooking, after all.

Earlier this year, construction company Verwelius put up some artist impressions of Bieber's new home:
