The Republican Accountability PAC is using domestic violence allegations in a new $1 million ad campaign targeting Republican Senate candidate Herschel Walker, the ex-NFL player backed in the Georgia race by former President Donald Trump.
The ad called "The Real Herschel Walker," released Monday, includes footage of Walker's ex-wife, Cindy DeAngelis Grossman, describing how Walker allegedly threatened to kill her.
"His eyes would become very evil," she says. "The guns and knives. I got into a few choking things with him.
"The first time he held the gun to my head, he held the gun to my temple and said he was gonna blow my brains out," she said.
The ad will air on MSNBC, FOX, and CNN in the Atlanta market and all major broadcast stations across the state this week, the group says. It is part of the PAC's $10 million initiative to "defeat anti-democracy Republicans" in key battleground states, which they say is currently underway to defeat GOP gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano in Pennsylvania.
The Republican Voters Against Walker campaign will also feature Georgia Republicans discussing why they can't vote for Walker in his bid to defeat Sen. Raphael Warnock in November.
A Walker spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request.
"Herschel Walker might have been a great football player, but he clearly doesn't deserve to be a senator," said Sarah Longwell, RAPAC Treasurer, said in a statement. "That's why our campaign is built around the voices of Georgia Republicans who know that he's unfit for office."
The PAC is run by Republicans, former Republicans, and conservatives who say they "are fighting back against Donald Trump's takeover of the GOP."
