WHERE ARE THEY NOW? The deep and star-studded 2011 NBA Draft class

• The 2011 NBA draft has become one of the best classes in recent memory.
• The class has produced stars from Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, and Jimmy Butler, and they were all picked in very different spots.

The 2011 NBA draft has proven to be one of the deepest classes in recent memory.

The class was highlighted by No. 1 pick Kyrie Irving, but perhaps most interesting is how many stars have developed from picks all over the class.

Klay Thompson was picked 11th, Kawhi Leonard was picked 15th, Jimmy Butler was picked 30th. Even Isaiah Thomas was picked 60th, the last pick of the draft!

Of course, some of the players also didn’t pan out in the NBA.

Here's where the picks are today.

The Cavaliers took Kyrie Irving with the No. 1 pick.

---

Irving is a six-time All-Star who spent six years with the Cavs and two years with the Celtics. He signed with the Brooklyn Nets in free agency this summer.

---

The Minnesota Timberwolves took Derrick Williams with the second pick.

---

Williams bounced around the league, playing for six teams in seven years. He currently plays overseas in Turkey.

The Utah Jazz took Enes Kanter with the third pick.

---

Kanter has also bounced around the league. He signed with the Boston Celtics this summer after spending last season with the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers.

The Cavaliers drafted Tristan Thompson with the fourth pick.

---

Thompson is still with the Cavs today and has been a crucial member of the team for his defense and rebounding.

The Toronto Raptors took Jonas Valanciunas with the 5th pick.

---

After seven years with the Raptors, Valanciunas was traded to the Grizzlies last season. He signed a $45 million contract to stay in Memphis this summer.

The Wizards took Jan Vesely with the sixth pick.

---

Vesely played just three seasons in the NBA, averaging 3.6 points per game, and is widely considered a bust. However, he has thrived since returning to play in Turkey, winning EuroLeague MVP in 2018-19.

The Sacramento Kings took Bismack Biyombo with the seventh pick and later traded him to the then-Charlotte Bobcats in a three-team trade.

Biyombo has been productive at times, but has struggled after signing a $72 million deal in 2016. He was traded back to the Hornets last offseason.

The Detroit Pistons took Brandon Knight with the eighth pick.

---

Knight has never stuck with any team. He is currently with the Cavaliers.

The Hornets (then Bobcats) took Kemba Walker with the ninth pick.

---

Walker developed into an All-Star in Charlotte, with career averages of 20 points and 5 assists per game. He signed with the Celtics this summer.

The Sacramento Kings drafted Jimmer Fredette with the tenth pick.

---

Fredette bounced around the NBA for several seasons, then played in China. He signed with a Greek team this summer.

The Warriors took Klay Thompson with the 11th pick.

---

Thompson, a five-time All-Star, is one of the Warriors' core stars and one of the best shooters and defenders in the NBA.

The Jazz took Alec Burks with the 12th pick.

---

Burks has moved around in recent years, signing with the Warriors this summer. He has career averages of 9 points and 3 rebounds per game.

The Suns took Markieff Morris with the 13th pick.

---

After several seasons with the Suns and Wizards, Morris signed with the Detroit Pistons this summer. He has career averages of 11 points and 5 rebounds per game.

The Houston Rockets took Markieff's twin brother Marcus with the 14th pick.

---

Marcus has become a valuable role player. After two seasons with the Celtics, he signed with the Knicks this summer.

The Spurs made a draft-night trade with the Pacers to steal their 15th pick, Kawhi Leonard.

---

Leonard is one of the best players in the NBA. After winning a championship with the Raptors following a trade from the Spurs, he signed with the Clippers this summer.

The Philadelphia 76ers took Nikola Vucevic with the 16th pick.

---

Vucevic was later traded to the Magic and has stayed with them since. He was an All-Star in 2019 and has career averages of 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.

The New York Knicks took Iman Shumpert with the 17th pick.

---

Shumpert played on the Cavs' championship team in 2016. He has since bounced around, playing for the Kings and Rockets. He is currently un-signed.

The Wizards took Chris Singleton with the 18th pick.

---

Singleton played three years in the NBA, averaging 4.1 points per game. He now plays in the EuroLeague.

The New Orleans Pelicans (then-Hornets) took Tobias Harris with the 19th pick, then traded him to the Milwaukee Bucks.

---

Harris has turned into a star player despite bouncing around the league. He signed a $190 million contract with the 76ers this summer after averaging 20 points and 8 rebounds per game last year.

The Timberwolves took Donatas Motiejunas with the 20th pick in the draft and later traded him to the Rockets.

---

Motiejunas left the NBA after five seasons, briefly returned in 2019 to join the Spurs, but has since left the team.

---

The Blazers took Nolan Smith with the 21st pick in the draft.

---

Smith played just 84 games in two seasons. He joined Duke's coaching staff in 2016 and is now the director of basketball operations.

---

The Denver Nuggets took Kenneth Faried with the 22nd pick.

---

Faried played seven seasons with the Nuggets and has since played with the Nets and Rockets. He's currently un-signed.

The Chicago Bulls drafted Nikola Mirotic with the 23rd pick.

---

After playing for the Pelicans and Bucks in recent years, Mirotic left the NBA to play in Spain this summer.

---

The Oklahoma City Thunder took Reggie Jackson with the 24th pick.

---

Jackson is now the starting point guard for the Pistons. He has averaged 16 points and 5 assists per game in five seasons with the Pistons.

The Celtics drafted MarShon Brooks with the 25th pick in the draft and later traded him to the then-New Jersey Nets.

---

Brooks has since gone back and forth between the NBA and playing in China.

---

The Dallas Mavericks took Jordan Hamilton with the 26th pick, then traded him to the Nuggets.

---

Hamilton played five years in the NBA and has since played overseas in Israel and Italy.

---

The New Jersey Nets took JaJuan Johnson with the 27th pick, then traded him to the Celtics.

---

Johnson played just one year in the NBA. He has played overseas since 2012 and currently plays in Russia.

---

The Bulls took Norris Cole with the 28th pick, then traded him to the Heat.

---

Cole was an important member of LeBron James' Miami Heat teams, but bounced around the NBA and overseas afterward. He played for a Montenegrin team in 2018-19.

The Spurs took Cory Joseph with the 29th pick.

---

After two seasons with the Pacers, Joseph signed with the Kings this summer. He has career averages of 7 points and 3 assists per game.

The Bulls drafted Jimmy Butler with the 30th pick, the last of the first round.

---

Butler has developed to become one of the NBA's best two-way players and a perennial All-Star. He has been traded to the Wolves and Sixers in the last two years and signed with the Heat in free agency this summer.

Bojan Bogdanovic was the first pick of the second round and the 31st overall pick.

---

Bogdanovic has developed into a solid NBA player. He signed a $73 million deal with the Jazz this summer.

---

The Houston Rockets took Chandler Parsons in the second round with the 36th overall pick.

---

Parsons struggled with injuries and effectiveness after signing a $94 million with the Grizzlies in 2016. He was traded to the Hawks this summer. He has career averages of 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists per game.

Finally, with the last pick in the draft, the Kings drafted Isaiah Thomas.

---

Thomas had an All-Star season with the Celtics in 2016-17, but has struggled since due to injuries. He is now a member of the Wizards, but has played just 44 total games the last two seasons.
