The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating two new blood clotting cases that were reported after people took the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
A CDC spokesperson told Insider that the agency is investigating two "confirmed reports" since Friday of a man and a woman getting blood clots after they received the shot.
Both people were under 60 years old, the CDC said. The spokesperson said other details wouldn't be revealed to protect patient privacy.
The two new reports bring the total number of people who got blood clots after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to 17, the CDC said.
The announcement comes days after the US said it was resuming its rollout of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Health officials previously paused the Johnson & Johnson vaccine's rollout as they investigated reports of blood clots.
The Food and Drug Administration has added a warning to the vaccine about the risk of unusual blood clots in women under 50 years old.
