Sara Gilbert’s farewell episode on CBS’ “The Talk” was already an emotional one, but her 12-year-old daughter Sawyer Gilbert made it even more special when she surprised her mother with an original song on Friday.

“She thinks we’re playing ‘Shallow,’ but I didn’t think that was special enough, so I wrote you a song,” Sawyer said to her mom. She then added that it’s called “Mama.”

Gilbert, 44, was thrilled to hear it, hugging and thanking her daughter before she even heard the song.

“The Talk” host Sharon Osbourne introduced the song one more time, and then the 12-year-old took to the stage with Gilbert’s partner Linda Perry, who played the piano.

Sawyer's soft vocals complimented the acoustic song, which had sweet lyrics about how much she loves her mom. In one part of the song, Sawyer even sang, "Outfits, styles, with crazy hair, you never ever care" - which made Gilbert and the audience laugh.

After nine years on "The Talk," Gilbert announced in April that she would leave the daytime talk show to focus on her acting and producing career, according to People.

"The Talk" will continue to air weekdays at 2 p.m. ET on CBS. Marie Osmond will be joining the show as a new co-host, according to a May announcement.
