Colorado has voted Republican eight times in the last 12 presidential elections, though the state has voted Democratic in every presidential election since President Barack Obama in 2008. There are major down-ballot races in both the Senate and House, including competitive races in the state’s 3rd and 6th Congressional Districts.

The Senate delegation from Colorado is split: one Democrat and one Republican. The rest of the state is firmly in Democratic control, with Democrats holding both houses of the state legislature, governor, and five out of nine congressional seats. Colorado has nine electoral votes and was expected by analysts to be competitive.
