Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham revealed in a new CNN interview on Tuesday that she lied to the public during her time in the Trump administration.
Grisham said she "selfishly" never held a press briefing when she served as former President Donald Trump's top spokesperson from July 2019 to April 2020 because "I knew I would possibly be put in a position to stand at that podium and not be honest."
"Lie?" CNN host John Berman asked.
"And lie," Grisham replied. "And I didn't want to do that."
Still, Berman pointed out that she sat for interviews on Fox News during her tenure at the White House.
"Were you always truthful there?" he asked.
"I probably wasn't," Grisham said. "I probably wasn't and I regret that so much."

The ex-White House aide then spoke about an October 2019 instance when she lied by releasing a White House statement attacking Gen. John Kelly, Trump's former chief of staff.
"I worked with John Kelly, and he was totally unequipped to handle the genius of our great President," the statement said.
Grisham told CNN that Trump "dictated" that statement to her "word for word," calling it one of her "biggest regrets."
"So that's a lie," she added. "That's an example that I have."
Grisham's comments come as her new tell-all memoir, "I'll Take Your Questions Now," published on Tuesday. The 352-page book details plenty of new allegations about the former president. She's also said it was a mistake to have worked for Trump.
A spokesperson for Trump dismissed Grisham's claims, telling the Washington Post that it's "another pitiful attempt to cash in on the President's strength and sell lies about the Trump family" and denouncing Grisham as a "disgruntled" employee.
