The ‘Apple Car’ is actually being made by Henrik Fisker and Foxconn – and Apple has nothing to do with it

• Fisker, Inc. and Foxconn announced a deal to develop a new vehicle.
• The car is slated to start production in 2023.
• The Apple Car remains nowhere to be seen — and Apple is falling behind.

Even though the much-discussed Apple Car has staged something of a comeback in recent months, “Project Titan,” as the undertaking has been code-named, remains the unimpressive concatenation of rumors it has always been.

Meanwhile, one of Apple’s most important manufacturing partners for its actual products, Taiwan’s Foxconn, just announced a plan to develop an all-new electric vehicle with Fisker, Inc., a startup founded by serial automotive entrepreneur Henrik Fisker.

Foxconn has been making noise in the auto industry since early 2020, when it announced a technology platform for vehicles. In 2021, it started joining Chinese carmakers – including Geely, owner of the Volvo brands – to collaborate on actual cars.
